This week I spent largely in Newport.
Other than work I have been in the flat engaged in a new (to us atleast) BBC drama Dan downloaded called 'criminal justice'. However, due to the ridiculous download speed of our neighbours internet - which we are 'borrowing' -we cannot watch more than one a day as it takes most of the day to download the next part!
Thus a five-part drama which began on sunday, took most of the week to watch! I recommend it to all those budding law students reading tho- very interesting!
After Thursday I decided to show my face around MB-ville again :)
Friday, Raj & Justine came round and to drink wine in the flat (due to our mutual povety). All was going well until someone brought up accents! I know what you're thinking.... and no, it wasnt me! Justine is from Bradford and very proud of it too it seems. As the drinks went on she continued to explain at great length that no matter where she lived she would never be a traitor and change her accent to be a southerner. We all smiled and nodded....(Raj being from an indian family living in Herts, Vicky - who was just there- from Aberdeenshire but Newcastle uni-ed, and me!- yes exactly - no comment)
Saturday I went to the NY Public Library with Suba to get some info on my trip. Suba took about a hundred DVD's out of trashy Chic-flicks which she announced we would watch that evening. After coffee and a short shopping excursion, with a LONG wait in line for fitting rooms, we arrived back around dinner time and proceeded to eat curry and watermelon. However, Suba failed to realise that her laptop was broken and wouldnt play any DVD's so the film nght did not go exactly swimmingly.
Meanwhile a free Bon Jovi concert in central park was going on, and tickets (altho free were very hard to come by)- had become available via Dan, but I had no phone signal and missed the whole thing!!!!! Cry..
Sunday, I gym-ed & shopped. Vicky had a cleaning attack and we were all required to chip in, so not much to tell here - except she's crazy!
Monday I had to atttend another class at the microsoft office on returning home and finding jobs. Apparently the woman who ran this seminar was voted european business woman of the year 2003 and brought along female only helpers - perhaps to rub it in a little? She seemed to know what she was talking about even if she was dressed from head-to-toe in bright yellow. I have an interview with her this thursday so I shall no doubt have more to say on her.
Tonight I have to write my final review on my year. 'An insighful summary of your year' is the request. Well... I'll see what I can do. Not as if its forced or anything...
Wednesday I have a lecture entitled 'power interviewing'- another riveting rendition of 'the power triangle' I fear. Whilst on Friday I must hand in my 'power CV' for assessment, yes its all 'power' here. What ever happened to just leaving quietly?
Anywho, more plans for this weekend and its payday!!!! So I'll be able to go out again!
Oh and of course there will be pictures x
