!Hola!
How is everyone?
Have I been neglecting you all? Sorry...
OK update:
For the most of last week Suba's friends were still staying in the Apt. This was nice, they made dinner one night and attempted to get us to go clubbing every other night...
When they left on Saturday morning around 4pm we had approx 8 hours to prepare the flat for the newbies who arrived at 12pm.
There's three newbies. James, Dan & Andrew (who doesnt not like being called Andy it seems).
James is an Oxford boy and has big hair. Dan is cool and is from Hampshire. Andrew is an Aussie and is the quietest of the three. Now you all know them I dont have to explain constantly!
After they arrived we breifly showed them around the apt, took them off to Target to buy bedding (before the rush of newbies bought up everything in the shop) and then ordered pizza and drank wine/beer. A good start I feel. However they seemed unimpressed by the mass of fairy lights we have hung all over the living room during the week before they came to make it feel 'homely.' The effect is more of 'Christmas' but nevermind I like them :)
I took Dan and Andrew out after pizza to shown them around newport where we bumped into Rich C, Adam M, Raj and Justine each with a few newbies. Of course we took the time to discuss each others newbies as we would pets, 'wow yours is really tall etc..' lol. I explained that one of my newbies was australian and thereby far more interesting than Raj's Mancurian with Cotswold roots..
In the evening we all attended the unofficial newport welcome party in Doriens were almoast everyone I ever met in MB was. The placed was packed. Good night. Met the roomate of the new girl at work - Maryam, and a few others who were being led around by their respective 'september' interns.
Sunday I woke up to find an empty flat. Turns out all the new boys had woken up early and gone to Hoboken to watch the match. (which due to the time difference is on at 9am on a sunday morning).
I went to the mall for a while, then met Jen for coffee before deciding it would be in both our interests if we stopped drinking so much coffee and joined the gym.
(pause while people pick themselves up iff the floor)
Jen and I promtly signed ourselves up and scheduled our weekly plan back in the apt.
Monday I was back at work with my new intern. She's getting better at the switchboard stuff. She called me once to ask what the 'pound' key was. (those who dont know this americans call '#' pound- very confusing I know. Say 'hash' and they look at you as if you are talking swaheeli).
I stayed late on Monday to finish my project which was due on Wednesday. I say late, I stayed till about 8pm then decided I'd much rather go for a drink with susan, one of the attorneys, as we were the only ones still in the office at that time. ah well...
Tuesday the project was not really almpst finished so I stayed for an hour or so, then had to leave for Jen and I had schedules the first of our gym sessions for 8.30pm. The class was good. Lots of resistance work and the woman wasnt as mean as the kickboxing bloke was. :) Jen seemed a little knackered and bewildered by it all, but I personally quite enjoyed it.
Wednesday I woke up with a distainct feeling I'd overdone the arm exercises the night before. Call me weird but I found it difficult to lift my arms above shoulder level... During the day I finished off my project! Horah! Then rang Adam for an undate etc..
In the evening, Maryam *(new intern girl) had kindly got me tickets to see Lupe Fiasco in the west village so after work we headed to the 14st diner for some food then hit the concert. It was really good. Apart form the insanely tall man in front of us who kept leaping into the air I could see almost the entire show. It was a small venue and had a good atmosphere. We left around 12pm.
Today its Thursday and unfortunately I woke up late as my phone (which houses the alarm) died during the night and I slept in.. oops!
I got to work a mere 2 hours late, luckily they love me and were more worried I had died or something as I am never late! lol..
Tonight I am supposed to be attending a flat dinner in Brooklyn to 'officially' welcome the newbies - does it seem like we have welcomed them about 400 times now???- so that should take up most of the evening.
Tomorrow I have another class schedules with Jen at the gym and the weekend looks to be more flat bonding.. But maybe something else will happen you never know..
laters xx
