Dear readers,
The day, so long awaited hath finally arrived: The Spice Girls graced the stage of the New Jersey Prudential Center! !Horah! I hear you chant.
In other news:
Monday was the dreaded managing information class again. It was long. Boring. Nobody was really sure why they hadnt thought of a better place to be. I say no more.
Pancake day. The batter was mixed, pans oiled, plates ready, - but where were all the people? Only Richard made it backin time! Rohan (being indian and usually ignorant of christian events) had forgotten it was today. Tom just never came home...?! Suba decided she was 'house-sitting' but didnt inform of this until Wednesday. Mayur- well he had agreed to come over- but then on trying to re-confirm this (why? I dont know) - he didnt get thru so assumed he had been uninvited! I mean over-planning perhaps?!
The pancakes of course were good. Richard and I improved on the age-old bannana pancake recipe with chocolate sauce. Amazing!(try it if you ever get the chance)
Then Megan came round to finish off the batter and clean up- altho I'm not sure she agreed to that last part- ah well you snooze you loose. :)
Friday night Jen, Raj, Rich C, Mark, Suba and I, headed to the Cuban bar in Newport. We had planned to go into Manhatten - but somekind of random (sorry Rob) blizzard had happened between us arriving back from work and 9pm. Ack. Turns out the cuban bar(being cuban I suppose) was having a latino dance night- so we did our best to avoid this, and after the first drink left to head to the safety of Doriens where the alcohol flowed and all was well. Rohan turned up at one point and he and Jen disappeared off. Suba left also, followed by Rich. Raj, Mark and I left around 3pm.
Saturday I woke up late, went to the mall for a while, then met up with Jen and headed to the Bronx for a work-mates house party. That was a mission, three trains and a bus- yet still we arrived early? It makes no sense- i'm never early...) Anyway, was a good night. Began as an Ann Summers type thing- moved on to drinks, and card games, at one point Jen fell asleep so we put her in a bunk-bed and continued on. There was food, obv I contributed with Apple Barcardi, and all were merry. I slept in the other bunk bed with Jen then headed home in the morning.
Sunday Jen and I had breakfast in the city then went home. I went food shopping, finsihed by book (yay!) then met up with Hima, Dina, Vicky H, Vicky D and Vicky D's brother - who was visiting. We took the PATH to Newark and found the prudential center (AKA the Devils ice hockey stadium) for the Spice Girls concert!! (I know you are all shouting CHEEEEEEEEEEEZ) It was good!
The queue was long and it was -10. Some girls were dressed as spice girls and carrying a stereo along the line, dancing and singing. I resited the urge to punch.
When we got in we were VERY high up, but the view was not too bad. Turns out Louise (who I work with) was three rows in front- small world. I would have bought a T-shirt in honour of this momentous occasion- but they were a rip off so I consoled myself with a black cherry soda type thing. (about the price of a regular t-shirt)
They all did Solo's apart from Victoria, who deicded to prance about in a cape and then disappear under the floor. Jerry's 'it's raining men' was pricless, as was Mel's 'I turn to you' - you could have crammed anymore cheese into this room! At one point a baby was on stage shortly before they sang 'Mama,' and 'wannabe' was saved for the final song. Cool sets, and some good backing dancers filling the gaps by spinning on their heads and falling off the stage 'acrobatically.' All-in-all a good show. I got back around 11.30. (pictures pending)
Today it's -12 outside- I dont want to go back out. There's no snow yet.
Also It's Adams Birthday! Happy birthday!
Tune in next week folks!
xx
