This week was the week we celebrated the independance from the evil British! (Luckily nobody seemed to mind the hoard of british folk attending said event).
It was made all the merrier by including a nice long 3 day weekend into the bargain! Horah!
So,
Thursday night we hit the bars! Suba, Raj, Justine, Banico, Pardeep, Nick and myself found ourselves in central bar fairly early on. This of course led to a beer tavern serving, -wait for it- the difficult choices of 'light' or 'dark' beer. Well after much humming and ahrring i went with 'light' which was satisfactory- but hardly on par with some, so we moved on to the 'cherry tavern' - which had run out of Cherry!! I mean!! How can you call a bar that and not have any cherries????
I drank my PLAIN margarita disappointedly.. later we moved on to a Kareoke bar (not my choice) where Pardeep's renditions of Jay z and Raj's 'I should be so lucky' filled the place with something, maybe dread? I dont know... anyway it was loud.
We headed back around 4 because we could all enjoy a good ol' lie on friday morning! Horay!
Friday was the day of independance. Feeling particularly unindependant I called Raj and we went for brunch around 3pm. We met up with Maryam at the Seaport and secured our positons for the evenings events placing Raj in the corner spot hours ahead of time. Maryam and I ran about a bit enjoying the festivities and such. lol. What? No, its not cruel..
Anyway, the evening did finally arrive and so did the fireworks. However the corner spot was not as ideal as we first thought as the fireworks - which were coming from a boat in the middle of the east river- were largley obscured by a pole supporting the upstairs decking. I spent the majority of the time crouched on the deck trying to get a good shot! Which I feel did pay off ultimately [see pics]
You see what I do for you lot?!
After the fireworks, we got ice cream and wandered about in the rain then decided it was late and raining so went home.
Saturday I slept. Did some chores then hit the gym for an hour or so. The evening was a boxing match. Two of the MB boys came round unaanounced to watch as their TV was broken. Unfortunately, ours is also broken so we had to send them away (and their beer) sniff...
Sunday I headed to china town - which was oddly busy. I hd my hair cut by an excentric japanese man with green hair and then bought very string chai tea in an outdoor tea bar I found whilst trying to regain my bearings. Fun day :)
Bye x
