'The outsiders' view from the inside'

Hello!

This was the week I proclaimed to Tom over MSN that I would one day write a book of this experience entitled 'The outsiders view from the inside' - Catchy I think. :)

Anyway, this was all came about from my annoyance on friday which will become clear if you read on....

Tuesday I didnt do much so nothing to report here.
Wednesday I had class after work which seemed once again painfully long and primitive. As we had yet another new teacher - he insisted we (once again) spent about half an hr going round the class introducing ourselves to everyone and telling everyone where we went to uni, our home towns, something interesting about ourselves blah blah... - I could do this for almost everyone in my class now we have sat through it so many times... but as it goes the teacher thought he was being 'creative.' About 2.5 hrs after this tourment began it ended. I got hom about 9.45pm. Ate, slept.

Thursday I met Jen in the Mall after work and we bought Jen another scary sleeping mask to replace the one she lost in the moving chaos, window shopped then headed home for tea. Rohan persuaded me it would be a good idea to share my food with him- so we had Chicken pasta- an oldie but a goodie.

Friday Morning. Here liath the explanation for my new found idea to write my memoirs on this strange country. I may have ranted about this before- but Friday morning is the the true 'theory in practice' chain of events.
I got on the train - as I do every morning- of course there is never a seat so I stand crushed against whoever else is also being crushed and attempt to read a book without falling over when I turn pages. As the train stopped at the (only) stop before mine I step out on to the platform to let the people off the train. Of course I forget to mention here- americans don't do courtesy. This is an indication I am leaving permantly or I would stand my ground routed to the spot and let those who wanted to exit the train tunnel past me - all the while me remaining oblivious to them. Therefore I was somewhat pushed/carried by a sea of people shoving their way off the train miles from the train to the exit of the station. At this point the train doors promtly shut and the train left. I had successfully, through my own politeness missed the train I was on! I had to stand and wait another 10 mins for the next train - of course again there was no seat- and managed to be late for work hurrah!
This is the last time I do something helpful or remotely polite in america.
Firday night I spent in my apt with, Rohan, Richard and Laura. We ate pizza and watched something on 'on demand.' Quiet night. The New folk did move into the apts today- however as we didnt have any in our apt, and it was FREEZING outside I decided against the newbie party in Doriens (the pub across the road).

Saturday I woke up and discovered Suba was clearly not coming back from work. I found a text from her saying she had gone to stay with her Aunty up-state for the weekend and would be back on Sunday night. So I called Jen and we rented some girly DVD's and chilled at Jen's apt with her newbies. Oh yes and ate pink M&M's.
The house party that took place in the evening nr. Jen's apt. was insanely crowded. There was around 50 people I would say in one 3 roomed apt. The drink was free so I stayed a little while the headed back where Rohan was plying people with whiskey again. I had a little then hit the hay.

Sunday I woke up wierdly early for a morning following a night of drinking. I went to Starbucks with Hima then Jen called around 2pm to say she had woken up. I say nothing. We headed to Hoboken for brunch and to see how trukly horrible Jen's hangover was- then ate Ben and Jerry's seen as we found Ben and Jerry's shop on the main street! I shopped a little and generally wandered around Hoboken as I havent been there before in daylight. Then we headed home. Got in around 6.30pm. I scrap booked my findings in Hoboken, talked to Suba for the first time all weekend and chilled in the flat for a while before going to bed.
Good lazy weekend I thought.

Tonight is hand in of part 1 of the project. I havent written this ywet so I will be doing this for the rest of the day. Keep reading people it can only get better!

over and out.
